Reflective Earth is developing a new form of shade fabric with both high albedo and a low absorption rate. This fabric may be practically deployed in cities that face very high temperatures. There are many urban sky-facing surfaces that can be covered with suspended shade fabrics to reduce both local heat gain and global warming. The commercially-made fabric will be piloted in Phoenix. There will need to be low-cost methods of methods of erecting the fabric, holding it in place, and replacing planes when they become damaged (such as by sun exposure).
